West Des Moines, IA – The Global Directory of Who’s Who proudly recognizes Satyanand (Satro) Narayan, a seasoned support scientist whose impactful 27-year career in biomedical science and aerospace research has earned him a place among the nation’s most accomplished professionals. Mr. Narayan is celebrated for his significant, and at times classified, contributions to space-based research, most recently involving groundbreaking biomedics projects for NASA/Bionetics.
Mr. Narayan earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Drake University in Iowa, laying the academic foundation for a career that would reach into the outer limits of scientific discovery. His long standing service was through BIONETICS, a private contractor for NASA, where he provided support in logistics, biomedical science and engineering at the Kennedy Space Center.
Throughout his tenure, Mr. Narayan played a key role in projects that expanded the frontiers of knowledge in space biomedicine. Some of his most prominent endeavors involved Rodent Research, Fruit Fly experiments, Cell Science, and the BioNutrients projects, which included research on mice and fruit flies in space—a pivotal step in understanding human biology in long-duration spaceflight. Due to the sensitive and classified nature of much of his work, many of his accomplishments remain undisclosed to the public.
Mr. Narayan was also a former member of the Space Coast Society, a reflection of his close association with the scientific and engineering communities that support space missions. Over nearly three decades of dedicated work, he has received multiple awards and commendations for excellence in his field.
As of the end of February 2025, under the new contract with Amentum, his position was abruptly concluded after 27 years. Mr. Narayan remains passionate about scientific advancement and is now seeking new avenues to contribute to society, using his vast expertise to inspire innovation and public service.
